The Directorate functions under the Administrative control of Border Protection & Development Department for implementing the objectives of the Government. The Directorate is to undertake the study of remote villages in the border blocks in order to assess the needs of the people and to identify the critical gaps in physical and social infrastructure. For each border blocks a long term and a short-term plan are to be prepared and therefore, Officials of Research Cell having expertise in planning are appointed for the purpose.
