History

  • The Directorate of Border Protection & Development, Assam which was earlier known as Border Areas, Assam was established as subordinate organisation of the erstwhile Border Areas Department vide Govt. letter No. PLA(BC)78/87/12 dated 20/01/1988. The Directorate is now renamed as Directorate of Border Protection and Development, Assam subsequent to renaming of Border Areas Department as Border Protection & Development Department  vide Order No. BD.101/2016/54 dated 21/06/2017.
